We get information to visit from four different ways:
- When people visit HSBC and fill out the tear-off on the bulletin,
- through a public record list that we subscribe to,
- from other HSBC members,
- or requests from 2nd Mile Ministries.
I then take this information and print out slips with as much information that I have. I put two slips that are in close proximity to each other and put them on a clipboard with a brochure about HSBC and a tract.
Most of the year we meet on Monday nights at 5:15 PM in Building "B", next to the secretary's office. During the winter months it gets dark too early so the teams pick up the slips after the Sunday morning service and go out during the week.
We take those we visit coffee mugs with our church, address & phone number on it as a gift along with the brochure and tract. We invite them to church and pray with them if they like. If they are not home, we leave the mugs and info along with a note inviting them to church.
This is just a great opportunity to invite people to church that don't already have a church home. The teams are usually made up of two people, sometimes a husband and wife, or an adult and a youth member. It's a great opportunity to meet others in our community. A lot of people have come to join our church because of this program. Others have even gotten saved!
It takes a team effort and faithfulness to make this program work and I am thankful for all those that take time to go out and visit in our community.
