The
Jail Ministry started over a year ago with 4 churches
teaching a bible study at the Macon County Jail.
It is on Tuesday nights and each church does a
certain week. HSBC has the third week of the month.
We usually have two sessions, each 1/2 hour long.
We have anywhere from 3 or 4 men to 9 or 10 in
a session.
The HSBC Jail Ministry was originally started with Dave Rehling, Allen Stinson, and myself. Since then, Allen and his wife, Tonnie, have moved to the state of Washington to open a business and be closer to their family. Dave has recently gone home to be with the Lord. Pastor Hugh Holleman and I are now doing the jail ministry on the third Tuesday of each month. There is church every Tuesday, but HSBC has the third Tuesday. We have our own Pastor Brandon Breedlove as a backup in case one of us can not make it for any reason.
We also use our testimonies too. Usually we don't
know the fruits of our labor there, but recently
we have had three people that have come up to
us and thanked us. One guy said since we were
there, he wanted to let us know he and his wife
have gotten clean from drugs and have gotten into
church and are now reaching out to youth to prevent
them from getting involved with drugs.
We have prayer each night before we go in asking
God to use us and speak through us to reach these
men. We give Him all the Glory because He is the
one that can change their lives if they let Him.
We are just planting the seeds and sharing the
Gospel, letting God use us for His purpose and
for His will in reaching out to these men.
I really enjoy it and we receive a blessing
in sharing God's Word with them and hopefully
they are receiving a blessing too. If you have
any questions, please don't hesitate to call me
and ask. I believe it is a great outreach ministry
for our church and a mission field right here
in our county.
