Nancy Seagle

My name is Nancy Seagle and I have been a member at HSBC for 21 years. I am married to Donnie and have two children and two grandchildren. At one time was probably related (by marriage) to most everyone in the church. Needless to say, we have grown some since then. I have been the treasurer at Holly Springs for 18 years and in addition to singing in the choir am involved in vacation bible school; second mile ministries and serve on the stewardship committee of the church. I have been employed for 33 years with the federal government and currently work at the Social Security Administration here in Franklin.

I grew up and was married in Cartoogechaye Baptist Church and never sang except in church. I am not a solo or even duet singer but love to sing and enjoy tremendously singing with the HSBC Choir. I joined the choir as soon as I joined the church and have been there 21 years. The only other choir director at HSBC that I have sang under is Mildred Williamson who did a great job before Kevin signed on. I have sang in the choir when we only had about 15 members in it. I guess the biggest singing event(s) I have been blessed to be a part of was the Blue Ridge Gospel Music Weekend with Anthony Berger and the joint Christmas Musical with Cowee Baptist Church.

My most favorite 'fast song' is "Tell Them When You Saw Me I Was on My Way" and my most favorite 'slow'
song is "There is a River" but I just love singing in the Choir and any song our director picks out is ok with me. I am in awe of Kevin and his musical talent and his ability to direct the choir with such tact and professionalism. He and Beth are such an asset to not only our choir but our church as well.

I am so thankful to God that He put me in this loving fellowship and brought Pastor Ed and his family to lead us. I look forward to many more wonderful years at HSBC.

Marline Mueller

My name is Marline Mueller. Married, mother of five of my own, plus two step-children. Between us we have 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I retired from a nursing career about five years ago. My career was short since I entered college in my forties.

I was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, attended a Baptist church from early on into my teens when, because of the music, I was drawn to an Evangelical church where I trusted Christ as my personal Savior.

Music was a part of our family get-togethers and I can remember singing as a youngster to entertain the family. The love of music, I guess you can say, is my inspiration. It's been about a year and a half since I started singing with the HSBC choir. One of the important singing events is when I sang at my aunt's wedding.
In high school I sang with a triple trio as well as in the acappella choir. In my older years I sang in a mixed quartet at my church as well as other churches.

I'm not related to anyone in the church, but it's still my family. I attend an adult Sunday School class and serve on the hospitality committee.
Although I'm not an artist, I enjoy oil painting now and then, I'm a member of the Macon Co. Senior Games which is an attempt to keep me physically active.

One of my favorite verses is, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee". It's difficult to pick a favorite song, there are so many I like, but, "Great is Thy Faithfulness" is one.

Kevin Corbin, Choir Director

Tell us a little about yourself: I am married to Beth and have two of the best kids in the world - Matt and Maggie. Beth and I live in Holly Springs and are the owners of Corbin Insurance Agency. We sell primarily Health and Life insurance, medicare supplements, and annuities. I sing and travel with Blue Ridge. I have been music director at HSBC for 15 years and have seen a lot of great changes in that time. When I began leading the music, Ed had only been Pastor for a couple of years. In the beginning we had (on a good Sunday) 16-18 choir members. We ran about 80-90 people in worship service and 45 or so in Sunday School. I thank God that last month Dixie did our latest choir roll for me and we have OVER 80 CHOIR MEMBERS !! Sometimes it is a real challenge for me, I must be honest. I really did not sign on for a job this big.... it has just grown to be this !! However, I thank God for the oportunites he has given me and us. Also, I must say that this job has gotten to the point that I COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT BETH !! She is my right hand (and sometimes left too) in so many ways. Also thanks to Dixie and Darlene for all you do to help me keep organized !!! We are so blessed with talented singers and musicians (and I feel myself the least talented of the lot !!) I pray that he continues to bless our music ministry at HSBC - it is a great place to be!!!

When did you start singing? I was too young to remember. Mom had Kelly and I singing harmony by the time we were 4 or 5 years old.

What inspired you to sing? My mother - JoAnn Corbin. She passed away in 1982 - but her impact on my life will never be gone !!! She was a great piano player and singer. She has to be the greatest Mom ever - what a role model she was. She died of a brain tumor at age 50. I NEVER heard or saw her complain or weep about her illness - not once. She died a hero to me. I cannot explain her impact on my life. She was the finest example of a Christian mother and wife.

How long have you been involved with the HSBC choir? Really most of my adult life. I sang in the choir before I started leading. I grew up in Holly Springs. I left for a while for college and all that stuff but have been here most of my life. When they asked me to do this director thing, I said that I would fill in 'til they could find somebody !! I guess they are still looking 'cause I ain't heard nothin' about it in a while !!

What would you say is one of your biggest, or most important singing events or moments? Recently, singing together with the Kingsmen Quartet on stage with Jim Hammill directing the "ensemble" was pretty awesome !! Also, singing "God Bless the USA" at the Macon Recreation Park with about 15,000 people standing and singing the chorus with us was tremendous. Also, I guess singing a couple of times with my son Matt would come at the top of the list.

Have you been a part of a singing group? Blue Ridge 1980 to present. Newest CD (21st I think) "The Pleasure is Mine" is available locally from us, Blue Ridge, or from Dalton's Christian bookstore!! (Sorry for the commercial - but we have kids to feed and college to pay for.)

Family? Beth, Matt, and Maggie. I am also related to all the Corbins, Ledfords, Seays, and Hopkins in the county and our church.

Other church organizations, groups you are involved in? I am an ordained Deacon, served on the building committee and other committees in the church.

Favorite Verse? Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Favorite song? "The Teacher" written by my friend Richard Carpenter. It says exactly how I feel about my life and my "teachers."

Your favorite group? Perrys, Inspirations, and Gaither Vocal Band - all for different reasons!!
