Family?
[husband/wife, children, other members
of church you are related too] First
of all, I don’t think we have the
time or the space to write about the church
members I am related to! My great grandparents
were Dewey and Minnie Corbin. My grandparents
are Don and Dorothy Seagle. My mom, Brenda
Monteith is one of the pianists at HSBC.
All of this makes me related to the following
choir members… Kevin, Beth and Matt
Corbin; Kelly and Dayna Corbin; Jim and
Mildred Williamson; Joy and Amber Mason;
Ashley Cabe; Nancy Seagle; Lori and David
Green; plus a whole lot of others who
have already gone on!!!

Tell us a little
about yourself: I am just a plain
country girl that grew up on a diary farm.
My family didn't go to church, but I was
blessed with a Daddy that took me and
dropped me off at church every Sunday
from the time that I was about 4 years
old until I was old enough to drive myself.
I was saved when I was nine years old
at Camp Living Water in Bryson City.
When did you start singing?
I started singing when I was very young
probably about 3 or 4. I would play the
piano and sing whatever??
What inspired me to sing?
Listening to the ladies at church singing
on Sunday, and sitting with my Dad singing
while he played his banjo.
How long have you been involved
with the HSBC choir? I have been
involved with the HSBC choir since about
July of 2004.
What would you say is one of your
biggest, or most important singing events
or moments? One of my biggest
singing moments was when I got the solo
part of Mary for the class Christmas play
in 6th grade it was very special for me.
I guess you could say I have been part
of a singing group although we really
didn't have a "name". My brother
in law Scotty Corbin., my mother in law
Wanda Corbin and I do sing together when
we get a chance.
Family? [husband/wife,
children, other members of church you
are related too] I have a wonderful
husband Shane, twin daughters Kaylee &
Kaycee (7) & a son Jake who is (10).
I am sure I am related by marriage to
all of those Corbin's, but consider myself
to be blessed with a wonderful church
family!!
My hobbies and interests include,
volleyball, softball, camping, swimming,
playing the piano & going shopping!!
My favorite verse is
Phil 4:13 I can do all things
through Christ which strengthens
me!!
My favorite song is Canaan
Land
My Favorite Group Blueridge

Tell us a little
about yourself: I am an English
teacher at Franklin High School, have
2 children, am actively involved with
the community theater group, and have
been a member of HSBC for a little under
a year.
When did you start
singing? When I was born! :)
or at least from the earliest that I can
remember. I know my first solo in church
was when I was 7 years old.
What inspired you
to sing? Christian Music was
always on in my house or in our car; my
dad used to sing in a quartet and always
harmonized with us, and 2 of my older
sisters sing. I looked up to them and
wanted to be like them, so I guess I imitated
them.
How long have you
been involved with the HSBC choir?
a little over a year
What would you say
is one of your biggest, or most important
singing events of moments? When
I do the summer musicals with the community
theater, we spend months rehearsing, and
we perform for 4 shows to crowds of 400+
people each performance typically. I guess
that is the biggest event and hardest
that I ever work at singing.
Have you been a
part of a singing group? When?
I sing in a female trio and have sung
with those 2 ladies for 7 years.
Family? [husband/wife,
children, other members of church you
are related too] Husband is Jeff
(FHS baseball coach and middle school
teacher), daughter is Avery who will be
8 in May, and son is Colton who will be
4 in June.
Anything else you
would like to mention?
I love volleyball and baseball; I am a
ham! and I have 3 older sisters.
Favorite Verse?
Psalms 36:5-7 "Thy mercy, O Lord,
is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness
reacheth unto the clouds. Thy righteousness
is like the great mountains; thy judgements
are a great deep; O Lord, thou preservest
man and beast. How excellent is thy lovingkindness,
O God! therefore the children of men put
their trust under the shadow of thy wings."
Favorite song?
I have WAY too many to try and name! Basically,
if it is a song that has a powerful message,
I love it!
Your favorite group?
The Talley Trio or The Hoppers

Tell us a little
about yourself: I've been at
HSBC since 1987 when my husband came to
be the Pastor
When did you start
singing? I've been singing since
I was a little girl, probably three or
four old. I started singing in my church,
singing all the little Sunday School songs
that children do.
What inspired you
to sing? Hearing the church choir,
and my parents sang with another couple
in church, so singing just seemed natural
to me.
How long have you
been involved with the HSBC choir?
Since 1987 when we first came to HSBC.
Mildred Williamson was the choir leader
then and she invited me to sing with the
choir for the Christmas cantata that year.
We hadn't been here long, but she invited
me to sing in the cantata that first Christmas
we were here.
What would you
say is one of your biggest, or most important
singing events of moments? Eddie
(my husband) used to sing with a quartet
from Sylva called the Laymen. During that
time I was playing piano for another group,
but always wanted to play for his group.
Several years ago, the Laymen had a reunion
at a church in Sylva, and I got to play
for them for that special concert.. It
was great!!
Have you been a
part of a singing group? When?
I started playing piano for a group when
I was 15. Since that start, I have played
for four different singing groups, doing
some of the singing as well. I only stopped
playing -- 'retired from the road' about
four years ago.
Family? [husband/wife,
children, other members of church you
are related too]
My husband, Ed, is the pastor of HSBC;
my daughter is Lisa; my son is Brett;
my two grandchildren are Harley and Railey.
Ed, Lisa and Brett are all involved in
the music program at HSBC too.
Other church organizations,
groups you are involved in? Well,
being the pastor's wife, I am pretty busy!!
I serve as youth leader, VBS director,
I teach children's Sunday School, church
council, WMU, etc., etc., etc. Shall I
continue???
Anything else you
would like to mention?
My church and family duties are about
all I have time for! Oh yes, I am a full-time,
stay-at-home Nana, taking care of two
baby girls!
Favorite Verse?
Isaiah 40:31
Favorite song? Too
many to enumerate! There are a couple
of old favorites that I never get tired
of, though: "Fight On" by Connie
Smith; "Calvary Answers for Me"
by the Perrys; and "I Firmly Promise
You" by Little Jan Buckner.
Your favorite group?
the Perrys; Karen Peck & New River;
the Hoppers; and Abundance of Joy!!
